Reports to: Director of Hospitality & Exec. Administration
Job Summary: The Administrative & Hospitality Assistant position is a two day per week position (9-5, Thurs & Fri), in addition to approximately 9 hours each month on the weekend. The role is responsible for providing administrative support to the staff and the Director of Hospitality & Exec. Administration, and leading Hospitality-related functions on the weekends when the Director of Hospitality & Exec. Administration is not working. This position deals with a diverse group of external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization.
Essential Functions:Weekday performance expectations:
Answer the church phone during the week. Take messages or fields/answers all routine and non-routine questions.
Provide direction and assistance to those entering the church during the week.
Ensure that all worship booklets are stuffed and ready for the weekend by leading a volunteer team that serves on Friday mornings for this purpose.
Assist the Director of Hospitality & Exec. Administration to prepare for the weekend, and be fully trained to perform weekend preparations in her absence.
Provide administrative support to other teams as necessary.
Weekend Responsibilities:
Lead Hospitality-related functions for three weekend services on average once per month, in the absence of the Director of Hospitality & Exec. Administration.

We are intentional about apprenticing and we seek to provide opportunities for interns to serve. We recognize the value to both the church and the interns in our program. Our desire is to create a place of meaningful service, guided learning, professional mentoring within a caring community for the interns selected to serve with us.
To ensure a positive experience for both the church and the intern, we want to make certain that the right people are selected for the right positions. To be considered for an internship at Fairfax Community Church, candidates should be:
On a career path related to the area of internship.
Willing to abide by and sign the Fairfax Community Staff Covenant and Expectations documents.
Able to meet the expectations as described in the ministry-specific position descriptions.
Interns should serve for a minimum of three months and a maximum of twelve months. Within these time guidelines, there is flexibility for the duration of the internship based on college course requirements, area of ministry and other life considerations.
The starting/ending dates for each intern will be decided between each intern and his/her supervisor.
Internships are unpaid. We will provide a stipend to cover food and gas for getting to and from church. The stipend is $25 per day (7 days/week).
Because we value the health and well-being of interns, we provide paid vacation days during the internship.
You will be reimbursed for miles driven on your car for work-related errands and local trips around the area (not to and from work). See your specific supervisor for more information.
