Care Network
Care Network is a ministry of Fairfax Community Church that provides practical care to those in our congregation and in our community that have tangible needs. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors - a radical shift from a focus of taking care of ourselves to looking to meet the needs of others. We seek to live this out through small, practical acts of service toward one another, and sacrificially giving of our time and resources.
How it works...
As a small group or individual, you make yourselves available to help a family/person in need, and our community care team will match you with a specific family/person.
What is expected...
There are a variety of ways to serve. The details and extent depends on the situation. We ask each group that commits to come along side of a family/person for 30 days in small, manageable ways according to the need and the resources, time skills, and desires of the group. The following is a non-comprehensive list of ways to serve a family/person in crisis:
1. *make pre-prepared meals and bring them to the home
2. *put together a support package which could include useful household or hygiene items, gift cards to major superstores (Target, Walmart, Kohls, etc.), substantial food, etc.
3. provide assistance with moving for someone who is physically and financially unable to do so
4. provide temporary storage or housing for someone who is forced to move from their home
5. help furnish someone's home with items not in use at your own home
6. adopt-a-family - find out what their specific needs are and find ways to meet them
*Making pre-prepared meals and support packages can be done without being matched to a specific family/person. These services would be appreciated as "stand-alone" acts, having items on hand for immediate crises that develop.
