Child Dedication Coordinator

Child Dedication Coordinators communicate with families who want to participate in the dedication, and pass along their information to the Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor one week before the dedication. Dedications are offered during the weekend services twice each year.

• Who the Position Supports: Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor
• 
Importance to our Church: Our theology concerning child dedication is that it is a commitment of Christian parents to raise their child in a loving Christian home, to model the love of Christ, and to be connected to the Body of Christ. Child Dedications are the way we celebrate the life of a child, and pray for their parents.
• 
Time Required: Serve 2-4 hours per quarter to communicate with families, as well as one Sunday per quarter to meet families before the dedication service to answer questions.
• 
Term of Commitment: 6 months minimum commitment
• Qualifications: Child Dedication Coordinators should have good communication skills, be prompt, dependable, and encouraging, and have reliable access to email.
• Training Provided: On the job training is provided to Child Dedication Coordinators.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: Meet new parents and help them find out about this opportunity to recognize their important role in raising their children.

Baptism Coordinator

Baptisms are a great way to celebrate people’s lives in Jesus. Coordinators assist those are who are looking forward to making this step of faith. The Baptism Coordinator provides information and helps ensure an orderly event.

Who the position supports: Pastor of Operations & Events

Time Required: We have baptisms three times per year.
Term of commitment: No minimum or maximum commitment.
• Qualifications: Baptism Coordinators should be detail oriented, prompt, dependable, and encouraging, and have reliable access to email.
• Training Provided: On the job training is provided to new Coordinators.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: Be a part of the process of helping others take this step of faith. Meet new people, form relationships with other baptism team members.
• Term of Commitment: No minimum or maximum commitment.
• Qualities: Organized and friendly.

Baptism Celebration Team

Be a part of the team that helps our church celebrate baptisms! This team will assist with pre-baptism preparations and help people during the baptism services. We’ll work together before the baptism weekends to prepare the baptism clothing kits for people that make a decision that weekend and make sure all of the details are ready. The Celebration Team will assist those getting baptized during the service and ensure.

Laundry Team

The Laundry Team supports other ministries by washing table cloths, baptism towels/shorts and other linens throughout the year. Team members will pick up laundry from the church, take them home to wash and bring back to the church in a timely manner.

• Time Required: Varies on the amount of laundry.
• Term of Commitment: No minimum or maximum commitment.
• Qualifications: Laundry Team members should be dependable and physically able to pick up and return laundered items.
• Training Provided: No training necessary.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: Support other ministries with behind the scenes service!

Community Care Givers

The Community Care givers are responsible for building a sense of community in the church through reaching out to minister to the special needs of church members. This person will show the love of Christ in action. Phone and visit sick, hospitalized, or home bound members.

• Who the Position Reports To: Associate Pastor, Small Groups
• Time Required Per Week/Month: Varies based on assignment. Time commitment is flexible.
• Term of Commitment: Minimum commitment is 6 months.
• Qualifications: Dependable, good communicator, discreet, compassionate, good people skills. Passion for uplifting and encouraging people, creating a sense of community in the church.
• Training Provided: Individual training is provided.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: Feel a part of the community.

Communion Coordinator

Help serve the bread and cup to the Fairfax Community as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice. Contact, recruit and schedule Communion Servers and Preparers.

• Who the Position Reports To:  Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor
• Time Required Per Week/Month: 3 hours per month.
• Term of Commitment: 6 month commitment
• Qualifications: Member of Fairfax Community for at least 6 months. Believer in Jesus Christ.

Communion Preparers

Help serve the bread and cup to the Fairfax Community as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice. Prepare communion wafers and grape juice for Communion. Put wafers on plates and juices in cups prior to service. Put plates and bowls on tables in sanctuary. Clean up Communion table and utensils after use.

• Time Required Per Week/Month: any or all services, third Sunday of the month
• Term of Commitment: 6 month commitment
• Qualifications: Believer in Jesus Christ.

Communion Servers

Help serve the bread and cup to the Fairfax Community as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice.

• Who the Position Reports To: Communion Coordinator
• Time Required Per Week/Month: any or all services, third Sunday of the month
• Term of Commitment: 6 month commitment
• Qualifications: Member of Fairfax Community for at least 6 months. Believer in Jesus Christ.

Communion Ushers

Help serve the bread and cup to the Fairfax Community as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice. Assist the congregation as they come forward to take part in communion.
Who the position reports to: Communion Coordinator

• Time Required Per Week/Month: any or all services, third Sunday of the month
• Term of Commitment: 6 month commitment
• Qualifications: Members of Fairfax Community for at least 6 months. Believers in Jesus Christ.

Looking Toward Marriage Table Hosts

The Looking Toward Marriage Group is designed to prepare and equip couples who are considering getting married.  Table Hosts are married couples who have been married for 5 or more years and are willing to share their experiences with other engaged couples.

• Who the Position Supports: Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor
• Time Required: Six Tuesday meetings from 7-9pm
• Term of commitment: 6 weeks, in early spring or early fall.
• Qualifications: Table Hosts should be willing to be open, willing to share thoughts and experiences, friendly, understanding, and helpful in working through issues.
• Training Provided: Training and curriculum is provided by the coordinators of the group.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: Be a part of the process of helping others start their marriages right.

Worship Service Prayer Team Member

Having a committed team that prays for our guests and members as needed shows that we place a high value on prayer. Come alongside and encourage others by being available to pray with others after the worship services.

• Who the Position Reports To: Prayer Team Coordinator
• Time Required Per Week/Month: 15 minutes after the service, two services per month.
• Term of Commitment: There is no minimum or maximum commitment.
• Qualifications: Members of the Prayer Team should be mature followers of Jesus Christ who are comfortable praying aloud with people they do not know. There is an application and interview process.
• Training Provided: There is an initial training and then ongoing meetings throughout the year.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: Members of this team have the benefit of immediately lifting someone up in prayer.

Congregational Prayer Team Member

Having a committed team that regularly prays for our guest and members prayer requests shows that we place a high value on prayer. Members of this team receive weekly email prayer requests generated from our Welcome Cards and emergency requests. Team members commit to praying for these requests daily.

• Who the Position Reports To: Congregational Prayer Team Leader
• Time Required Per Week/Month: Daily prayer time
• Term of Commitment: There is no minimum or maximum commitment.
• Qualifications: Congregational Prayer Team members should be willing to commit to praying for the requests daily. Eamil access is necessary to receive the prayer requests.
• Training Provided: An initial training session is provided to explain the process.
• Benefits for the Volunteer: As a Congregational Prayer Team Member, you have the privilege of lifting prayer requests up to God on behalf of our congregants.
