The Hospitality ministry focuses on welcoming our guests and members to Fairfax Community Church.
The VIP Welcome Team is an integral part of a newcomer’s worship experience. From the moment a first-time guest pulls into our parking lot, until they are comfortably seated in the sanctuary, the job of the VIP Welcome Team is to give a warm welcome and general sense of “we’re glad you’re here!” to each and every new person who walks through the door, and to follow up with a brief phone call on Tuesday.
NEXT Representatives greets newcomers at NEXT and makes them feel welcome before the Sr. Pastor arrives to start the meeting. NEXT Representatives meet NEXT participants directly after the service in room 108, hand out information cards, folders and pencils, and chat with the newcomers before the Sr. Pastor’s enters. Upon the Sr. Pastor’s arrival, the NEXT Representative says goodbye to the participants and exits the room.
Prayer Volunteers pray for members of our congregation on a regular basis. Prayer Volunteers are available to pray for members of our congregation during the last portion of worship in a service.
Communion Preparation Volunteers provide our congregation the ability to observe Communion during the service. Communion Preparation Volunteers set up communion before the service starts, and clean up afterwards. The required tasks associated with this exercise differ from service to service.
The Parking Team ensures that guests and members have a positive experience getting to our building through warm smiles, helpful directions and an orderly process. Parking Team members direct cars into, around and away from our parking lot. This team ensures a smooth and organized process for people to come to church.
Greeters provide the first warm welcome, set the first impression for our guests and are available to help people. Greeters welcome both guests and regular attendees to the weekend services with smiles and kind words. These team members also look for and approach guests. They escort families to the children’s rooms and adults into the sanctuary. These team members answer many questions about the church and help our guests feel comfortable. Generally, there are 1-2 greeters outside, 2 at the front door, 2-3 in the lobby, and 1-2 at the sanctuary doors for each service.
The Connection Center is the place to find answers. Guests and members know that they can find help for anything at the Connection Center. Connection Center team answers questions from guest and members. They also maintain sign-up sheets, distribute information booklets and sell sermon CDs.
Ushers are among the first people our guests and members will speak with upon entering the building. Their kindness and willingness to assist others make ushers a valuable part of the Hospitality Team. Ushers serve in two primary ways. First, the ushers assist the guests as they arrive in the sanctuary. This includes providing them with worship folders and pencils, helping them to find seats as the sanctuary becomes crowded, and responding to any situations that require special assistance. Second, the ushers support the function of each service by taking attendance, counting the offering, and picking up in the sanctuary following each service.
The Security Team provides security for the congregation and the church building/grounds. These team members will patrol the parking lot, grounds and inside the building. They will be alert to potential dangerous situations and take appropriate actions to remedy situations. The will inform and seek assistance from other church leaders or from local authorities as needed. These team members will also offer assistance, when appropriate, to our guests and members.
Service Coordinators are the eyes and ears of the Hospitality team before and during our worship services. They spend their time making sure everything is running smoothly and assisting other team members when issues arise. Service coordinators help prepare the lobby and sanctuary for our worship services and ensure that the Hospitality teams have everything they need to serve our guests and members.
