DAY 7: Paul’s Unconventional Approach to Evangelism
Paul’s understanding of God’s plan for salvation challenged traditional Jewish beliefs. While many anticipated the restoration of Israel before the conversion of Gentiles, Paul believed God’s plan would unfold in reverse. He saw himself as uniquely called to preach the gospel to the Gentiles, and his missionary journeys through Asia Minor and Greece bore witness to the success of his ministry.
Unlike the chief apostles to the circumcised, who struggled to reach their Jewish brethren, Paul experienced remarkable success in spreading the fragrance of the gospel among the Gentiles. Despite his admission of being an unskilled speaker, Paul’s unconventional approach to evangelism yielded fruit. Rather than relying solely on eloquent speeches in public gatherings, Paul likely engaged in informal conversations while working as a tentmaker.
As Paul crafted goods as a tentmaker, he seized opportunities to share the message of Christ with those around him. His humble occupation provided a platform for meaningful dialogue, drawing people to inquire about the hope he professed. Through his diligent work and sincere conversations, Paul’s influence extended far beyond the confines of traditional evangelistic methods.
Paul’s example challenges us to reconsider our approach to sharing the gospel. It reminds us that effective evangelism is not limited to grand speeches or public platforms but can occur in the ordinary moments of everyday life. Like Paul, we can embody the gospel in our work and interactions, allowing God to use us as vessels of His grace and truth.
