Rhythms of Jesus – Week 6: The Discipline of Service

Day 39: Using Your Spiritual Gifts

Every believer has been gifted by God with unique talents and abilities—spiritual gifts meant to build up the body of Christ and serve others. In 1 Peter 4:10, we are reminded that these gifts are not ours to hoard but to use for the benefit of others, as stewards of God’s grace. Whether it’s the gift of encouragement, teaching, hospitality, mercy, or any other, each gift is a precious resource entrusted to us by God.

Serving others with our spiritual gifts is an act of worship, an acknowledgment that these talents are not of our own making but are part of God’s perfect design. When we use our gifts, we’re participating in God’s work on earth, advancing His kingdom and bringing light to the world.

The beauty of these gifts is that they don’t require perfection. God does not ask us to serve based on how skilled or talented we are in our own eyes but on the willingness of our hearts to be used for His glory. Our gifts, when given in faith, become channels through which His grace flows into the lives of others.

Key Verse:
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. ~ 1 Peter 4:10

Thoughts and Actions:

  • Take a moment to reflect on the gifts God has given you. How have you been using them? Are there areas in your life where you may be holding back, unsure of how or where to serve?
  • Ask God to show you how He wants to use you today. Whether it’s through a word of encouragement, an act of kindness, or simply being present for someone, remember that your gift, however small it may seem, is valuable to God and is meant to serve others.
