Rhythms of Jesus – Week 6: The Discipline of Service

Day 36: Jesus as the Servant King

In a world that values power, prestige, and recognition, Jesus offers a radically different example—He is the King who serves. He had every right to demand honor and glory, yet He chose humility. From washing His disciples’ feet to ultimately giving His life on the cross, Jesus embodied service as an act of love.

Following Jesus means embracing His way of life. Serving others isn’t about seeking approval or status; it’s about reflecting the heart of Christ. When we serve, we imitate the One who first served us. Whether it’s through small acts of kindness or sacrificial love, every moment of service is an opportunity to live out the gospel.

Key Verse:
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” ~ Mark 10:45

Thoughts and Actions:

  • Examine your heart. Do you approach service with humility or expectation?
  • Reflect on Jesus’ example. Meditate on how His life of service calls you to a deeper commitment to others.

May we follow Jesus, not just in belief, but in action—serving with joy, humility, and love.
