Rhythms of Jesus – Week 2: The Discipline of Scripture
Day 12: Listening to God Through His Word
God is always speaking, but are we truly listening? In John 10:27, Jesus describes His followers as sheep who recognize and respond to His voice. One of the primary ways God speaks to us is through His Word. When we read Scripture, we are not just engaging with words on a page—we are hearing the voice of our Shepherd, guiding us in truth, love, and wisdom.
Listening to God through His Word requires more than just reading for knowledge. It means approaching Scripture with a heart that is ready to receive, obey, and follow. When we slow down and truly engage with the Bible, we allow God to speak into our lives, revealing His will and direction.
At times, we may struggle to hear God’s voice, but He has already given us His Word as a clear and trustworthy way to know Him. The more we immerse ourselves in Scripture, the more familiar we become with His voice, making it easier to discern His leading in our daily lives.
When you open the Bible, approach it prayerfully. Ask God to speak, to give you understanding, and to help you apply His truth. As you listen, trust that He knows you intimately and is always leading you with love.
