Rhythms of Jesus – Week 3: The Discipline of Solitude
Day 21: Finding Rest for Your Soul
Life can be exhausting. The burdens of work, family, responsibilities, and even spiritual disciplines can leave us feeling drained. But Jesus extends a beautiful invitation: Come to Me. He does not tell us to work harder, fix ourselves, or carry the load alone. Instead, He calls us to rest in Him.
True rest is not just about physical relaxation; it is a deep, soul-level peace that comes from trusting Jesus. When we take His yoke upon us, we exchange our striving for His strength, our worries for His peace. His yoke is not heavy; it is perfectly fitted for us, and He walks beside us, carrying the weight.
Solitude with God is not a luxury—it is a necessity. When we regularly step away from the noise, rest in His presence, and listen for His voice, we are renewed. The more we practice this discipline, the more we will experience the unforced rhythms of His grace.
Key Verses:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” ~ Matthew 11:28-29
Putting It into Practice:
- Reflect on what you’ve learned. Over the past week, how has solitude helped you draw closer to God?
- Keep choosing rest. When life feels overwhelming, return to Jesus. His invitation to find rest in Him is always open.
Solitude is not just for a season—it is a lifelong discipline. As you continue to make space for God in your daily life, you will find that His presence is the true source of rest, renewal, and strength for your soul.
