Day 24: Mercy
Scripture:
“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”
Micah 7:18 (NIV)
Prayer:
Father, we confess that we have seen you at times as a mighty taskmaster, an unbending ruler instead of our holy Creator and the original Source of mercy. You did not create us out of obligation or coercion. You created us out of Love, as a further reflection of Your Goodness through the earth. Only You! There is no one like you.
As we grow weary of this process of laying down our sins and experience just how much bitterness there is at the end of ourselves, help us to not give in to the temptation to keep our deepest wounds hidden from you. Saturate our hearts with the sweetness of the delight you have in showing us mercy. Give us that same holy delight to show your mercy to others. Amen.
Reflection:
How will Jesus show up in my day today?
Do I have the eyes and ears to see and hear the wonders of his love and mercy?
How will I experience his grace? Will I see something miraculous? Something hope-filled that will transform me?
