Day 21: Rest

Scripture:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

Prayer:
Lord, I know my weariness is no surprise to you. You know my weight of my burdens, my tendency to strive, the pressure I feel to do and be enough.

But You have declared my value: you said “you are enough” when You sent your Son Jesus to us. No success or failure of mine can change that.

Help me, then, to not only open my hands and surrender my heavy yoke, but also to receive Your light one. When I reach my limits, help me to lift my eyes to You and remember You are the Everlasting God who never grows faint or weary. Help me see You at work all the more clearly when I am still.

You are a Father who gives His children good gifts; thank you for designing a rhythm of rest that leads me back to You.

Reflection:
How will Jesus show up in my day today?
Do I have the eyes and ears to see and hear the wonders of his love and mercy?
How will I experience his grace? Will I see something miraculous? Something hope-filled that will transform me?
