Day 2: Reconciliation
Scripture:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
Colossians 3:12-15 NIV
Prayer:
Dear God, we thank you so much for your relentless pursuit of us and your work to reconcile us to you. Thank you for Jesus and your forgiveness of our sins and our wrongs. We ask that you fill us with your love for others and help us to forgive. Please help us to see our part in any conflict and to repent of it. And then God, please help us to reach out in forgiveness and love to the other person. Please don’t let us hold grudges; please don’t let us hurt others. With your Holy Spirit, please move us forgiveness and peace with each other just as you have made peace with us. God, we know that this work is bigger than we are, and that’s why we ask you to do this work in us. If we have conflicts or grudges, please help us reach out. If someone is reaching out to us please help us to accept it. Please fill us with a sense of love and peace and purpose that comes only from you and to share that with everyone. In Jesus’ wonderful name, amen.
Reflection:
How will Jesus show up in my day today?
Do I have the eyes and ears to see and hear the wonders of his love and mercy?
How will I experience his grace? Will I see something miraculous? Something hope-filled that will transform me?
