Thanks for joining us. As we begin this 40 day journey, note that this devotional will arrive in your inbox in the early morning everyday but Sunday. It was written from the hearts of those in the blue seats at Fairfax. It includes scripture, a prayer and some reflection questions that will repeat each day. Our hope is that you will see God in new ways as we look forward to the great celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
Day 1: Time
Scripture:
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die
a time to plant, and a time to harvest what is planted,
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
I have seen the business that God has given the sons of earth to be busy with. He has made everything in its time; also he has put eternity into man’s minds, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end… All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, 4,1–11, 20
Prayer:
God, you created us out of the dust of the earth. May this be a sign to us of our mortality and confession that we may remember that it is only by your gracious gift that we are given a forever life with you.
Reflection:
How will Jesus show up in my day today?
Do I have the eyes and ears to see and hear the wonders of his love and mercy?
How will I experience his grace? Will I see something miraculous? Something hope-filled that will transform me?
